If you are currently residing within the Epsom Normal Primary School zone, your child is automatically eligible to be enrolled at our school. Enrolments for children who live in our zone are accepted throughout the year.

The applicant and child/ren must be living at the in zone address at the time of applying for their child’s enrolment. The school may actively collect information and make any enquiries necessary to ensure that the information provided on the enrolment application is correct. Please contact the school office to obtain an enrolment application and information pack. This pack is not available by email.

If you have any questions or would like additional information, please contact our Enrolments Administrator, ‘Asena Helu – enrolments@epsomnormal.school.nz

Pre-enrolment
New Entrant children start on the Monday after their fifth birthday. There will be visits arranged to the New Entrant classroom prior to your child starting school. Parents are requested to enrol children as soon as possible after their child’s fourth birthday. It is very helpful for the school to have pre-enrolments completed for New Entrant children so that the school may prepare for the needs of our future school community.

OUT OF ZONE APPLICATIONS
Children who live out of our zone are accepted through a ballot system only. In September/October each year we usually hold an out of zone ballot for children starting the following year. A decision as to whether a ballot will be held for entry in the following year is normally made in June of the current year. If a ballot is to be held, it will be noted on our website and an advertisement will be published in the Central Leader, our local newspaper. Out-of-zone application forms would be available at the school office at this time.

The process followed to determine selection of Out Of Zone students is made by the Ministry of Education. APPLICATIONS FOR OUT OF ZONE ENROLMENTS WILL BE PROCESSED IN THE FOLLOWING ORDER OF PRIORITY.

The enrolment of out of zone students is governed by the provisions of the Education Act 1989. If there are more applicants in the priority groups than there are places available, selection within the priority group will be by a ballot conducted in accordance with instructions issued by the Secretary for Education under Section 11G (1) of the Education Act 1989.

  1. First priority is given to any applicant who is accepted for enrolment in a special programme run by the school and approved by the Secretary for Education. (This priority category is not applicable at this school because the school does not run a special programme approved by the Secretary.)
  2. Second priority is given to any applicant who is the sibling of a current student at the school.
  3. Third priority is given to any student who is the sibling of a former student of the school.
  4. Fourth priority is given to any applicant who is a child of a former student of the school.
  5. Fifth priority is given to any applicant who is either a child of an employee of the board of the school, or a child of a member of the board of the school.
  6. Sixth priority is given to all other applicants.

Parents of siblings of out-of-zone students who currently attend ENPS Parents must complete out of zone application forms for their younger children to be included in this ballot.
