Kia Ora Tatou, Greetings to all
Dear Parents
We would like to welcome everyone to the 2010 school year and extend an especially warm welcome to all our new families. I hope you have had a restful and happy time during the holiday break.
As a staff we would also like to warmly welcome our new staff – Selina Kung, Kathy Ngan and Dillon Rungan.
Our learning theme for 2010 is… Am I making positive connections in the world?
Our 2010 artist is Picasso.
Our 2010 musician is Ravel.
Our Maori Proverb for 2010 is…
He Whakatauki
E kore e taea whenu kotahi
ki te raranga I te whariki
kia mohio tatou kia tatou.
Ma te mahi tahi o nga whenu,
ma te mahi tahi o nga kairaranga,
ka oti tenei whariki.
l te otinga
me titiro tatou ki nga mea pai ka puta mai.
A tana wa,
me titiro hoki
ki nga raranga I makere
na te mea, he korero ano kei reira. .

The tapestry of our sustenance and wellbeing
cannot be woven
by one strand alone.
Only by the working together of strands
and the working together of us all,
will such a tapestry be completed.
With its completion,
let us look at the good that comes from it
and in time
we should also look
at those stitches which have been dropped,
because they also have a message

If you learn to be creative in everyday life…you will change the way you experience the world. (Csikszentmihalyi, 1996) Together as a learning community (children, parents and Epsom Normal staff) we will, I am sure, experience a wonderful, exciting and rewarding learning year.
