Today is my first time visiting the Auckland War Memorial Museum. We got on the bus at nine-thirty. My buddies were Orphelia and Taila. We talked and laughed. Around ten o’clock we arrived at the museum.
We entered the museum and made our way to the NZ Natural History Land. We drew pictures and wrote the names of the birds and insects we saw on a notebook that our teacher, Ms Cope, gave us. We saw cave wetas, fresh water fish, forest birds, mountain birds and a giant moa. We also saw huge dinosaur fossils and they were very big. One made a big sound that frightened me. We saw butterflies, moths, crickets, rats and lots of other species. We were all very excited.
At 11 o’clock Ms Cope said, ‘It’s time to go to learning lab’ so we all got into two lines ready to go upstairs. There we saw a special projector introducing bumblebees and honeybees. Paul and Anna told us insect’s knowledge then they gave us insect materials and we saw displays of dead insects. Now we know insects’ body parts and life cycles. Finally we went to the Weird and Wonderful place. There was a TV in there and a sponge and an insect. I saw big seashells and we heard the sea sound inside them. One was rainbow coloured!
Next I played the computer and I was hiding with Megan. Then I went to the back of the special place and there was a goose and a polar bear specimen. After that it was time to go back to school.
We all thanked my Mum and Ophelia’s Mum for what they did for us. We had a wonderful time in the Museum and it was significant because we learned a lot of things. I hope I come to visit the museum with my family again! I enjoyed being in my Mum’s group because my group was sensible. I had a WONDERFUL TIME.
