Dear Parents,
We are now in the midst of very busy part of the term with assessments, production practices, writing reports and planning for 2011.
In Week 9 we will be performing Museum Mayhem and this will leave very little time to prepare for Save the Children Fair in the final week of term. Therefore it is vital we begin our organisation now for this very important, annual event.
Just as a reminder the purpose of the fair is to raise funds for children in need, both here and overseas.
Some ideas for donations are:
•pre-loved books
•toys
•games
•puzzles
•bric- a- brac
•jewellery and accessories
•unwanted gifts suitable for raffles
We strongly request items must be of good quality and suitable for children.
As stated in the last letter, please send your donations to Room 12.
I would like to thank the School Community who donated goods recently from our request before the holidays. Your contributions are really appreciated.
Regards
Paula Looker
Save the Children Fair Coordinator.
The 2010 Fair will take place the last week of Term Four. The purpose of the fair is to raise funds for children who are in need, both here and overseas.
In 2009 we supported our overseas sponsored students, Child Cancer, Habitat for Humanity, Westpac Helicopter and families in Samoa.
As December is a busy time of the year it may be an opportune time over these holidays to have that great clean out of unwanted books, toys, games, puzzles, bric a brac, jewellery and accessories. We strongly request items must be of good quality and suitable for children.
If you wish to donate goods after the holidays please deliver to Room 12.
Your donations are most appreciated.
Thank you,
Paula Looker
Save the Children Fair Co-ordinator.
Week Ten will have lots of action at lunchtimes in the library to celebrate our special week of cultures and books.
Parents are welcome to attend with their children to listen, read stories, or just enjoy the atmosphere.
Remember the library is open on Thursdays after school for parents to visit and select books. We have had a number of parents visiting in the past few weeks with their children and this is a great way of connecting them with books.

TOGETHER WE CAN DO IT!!!
Our school is again taking part in the “Auckland City Council’s Chaos at the School Gate” programme. This is one way of working together to make our school a safe place for students and making sure that the local roads outside our school are safe for the wider community. We know you will want to help us in this.
Being in the ACC’s programme means that parking wardens will be assisting us by visiting our school regularly (from Week 2 this term) to monitor the drop off zone and parking around the school. They will be issuing infringement notices where appropriate. We as a school agree to keep our community informed about safe practices by communicating with school families about how they can help.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
You can help us keep the school environment safe by:
- taking care to observe parking signage. Please note that the ‘2 minute zone’ requires the driver to remain in the car.
- making sure that when pulling into the drop off zone you move to the end rather than stop at the top (this allows others to pull in safely behind you).
- moving into the traffic carefully and going around the block rather than doing a ‘u turn’ to travel south.
- ensuring you model safe road crossing by using the zebra crossing if parking opposite the school.
- making sure that if collecting children you do not double park and ask students to walk between cars to get into your car.
- parking outside the yellow lines bordering the crossing so that sight lines are clear for our crossing patrols.
- parking a little further away from school and walking the extra distance to remove traffic from our gates.
- dropping children in safe places and ensure they do not alight from cars parked in traffic queues outside the school.
TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
