He thought his father was the most marvelous and exciting father a boy could ever wish for. On his ninth birthday Danny finds out that his father broke the law. On Tuesday 17 March the ENPS zone swimmers went to St Kentigern Prep School to compete. It was an amazing day full of cheering and school spirit. Our Year Six children had had to make a hard decision when it came to competing, as they had to choose between their first day of camp and the swimming champs. We had some amazing parents who fed, watered and provided shade for our children during the day.
Overall ENPS did extremely well and we only just missed out on coming home placed. We had a strong open girls relay team who were placed second in our heat but unfortunately missed out based on time. Courtney, (Yr6) was placed third in the 50m Breaststroke. Julia (Yr5) received two 3rds, one in Breaststroke and the other in Freestyle.
Overall we had a fantastic day in the sun and we look forward to re-grouping at the end of the year to begin training for next year.
Thank you to all the parents for your support, help and guidance on the day. Without you these trips would not be possible.

In December last year, the families of Year 4 and 5 students were asked to complete an Education Outside The Classroom [EOTC] survey. The results of the survey have been most useful in informing our planning for EOTC 2009 and beyond. Thank you to those families who completed the survey, and to a number of other parents who have come in and spoken to us personally.
This year the Year 6 classes including Room 1 (composite class) are again travelling to MERC. The excitement is building as camp is less than 2 weeks away. Thank you to those parents who are supporting the camp in a variety of ways to ensure the children’s experience is a memorable one.
The community has indicated strongly that they do wish their children to have a camp experience, and there is also support for the camp to be a Year 6 camp. It is our plan to continue with Year 6 camps in 2010, and only Year 6 students will go on camp.

Welcome back to ENPS for Term One of 2009. This term is full of events and activities as well as the beginning of our School Wide focus on Sustainability.
A MASSIVE well done to the team who represented ENPS on Tuesday at Ericsson Stadium. The team set off just before 9am and returned to school just before 3pm with a stack of certificates and ribbons. These will be presented at next week’s Senior Assembly next Friday morning at 9am in the School Hall.
We would like to thank all parents who provided transport, supervised students and assisted in running the high jump event. As always we couldn’t do it without your continued support.

It’s time to see what we actually have in our PE Sheds and so we know what we need to resource PE and Sport in our School. We need approximately 3 or 4 people next Wednesday afternoon to help stocktake our gear. If anyone is able to help, please email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or call into Room 8.

There were many entries this year for the 2008 Yearbook Cover Design Competition. The yearbook team and Miss Kylie had a tough time reducing the entries to 8 finalists, but we decided that the final 8 designs reflected aspects of Epsom Normal’s diverse and interesting school culture. These 8 designs were hung in the library for students to look at and vote on. There was a huge response and after a week of voting there was a clear winner.
Lots of sunshine, blue skies and plenty of challenging activities for all 75 children at our recent camp at the Peter Blake Marine Centre. From our observations, follow up activities and feedback, all our camp objectives have been met:
*increased confidence
*learning to use specialised equipment
*working and communicating as a team in order to achieve an outcome.
